Tournament Rules

The following rules apply to the Rock the Park & Big Show Tournament Weekends

  • Coin Flip for Home/Away
  • Bat Roster. unlimited substitution, or bat 9 w/ DP/F must declare at start of game
  • Pinch Runner Allowed for Pitcher at any time (last available)
  • Pinch Runner Allowed for the Catcher with 2 out (last available)
  • All games are No New Inning after 1:20
  • There is no drop dead rule, however please see the next bullet point
    • If the time threshold is reached and the home team is batting (with the lead) the game is over as time expires
  • Call-Ups Allowed, must clear player with PWSA coordinator & UTM Fastpitch
  • Live Streaming of games, must be cleared by the umpires and both teams prior to the start of the game
  • All teams should be expected to be ready to play 15 minutes before their scheduled time slot

Additional Rules for Pool Play

  • All innings are open
  • Mercy Rule 15 after 3 innings, 10 after 5 innings
  • If after 7 innings, or the time limit the game is tied - 1 additional inning will be played see below
  • A team earning a win is credited 2 points, a tie is worth 1 point, losses are worth 0 points
  • 2 team tiebreaker is H2H
  • 3 or more teams, least runs against, run differential, record against common opponents, runs for, coin toss

Extra Inning Rules:

  • only applies during pool play
  • 1 additional inning will be played, if the game is still tied, then the game ends in a tie
  • for the one extra inning
    • a runner will be placed on 2 base, and the inning will start with 2 out. (runner is the final out the previous inning)
    • a maximum of 3 runs can be scored in the extra inning per team

A & B Championship Games

  • If the game is tied after 7 innings, or the time limit has expired, ITB rules will apply until the tie is broken
  • NO TIES can happen during championship games

Consolation Games

  • If a game is tied after 7 innings, or the time limit has expired, ITB rules will apply until the tie is broken
  • NO TIES can happen in the two consolation games


  • Should a player or coach receive a game ejection by the umpire or UIC they will automatically be suspended for their next game of the weekend
  • A second objection, will result in coach being banned from future 2024 UTM events
  • Should a fan be thrown out of a game, that fan is banned for the balance of the weekend (no exceptions)
