UTM BIG SHOW RULES
UTM Fastpitch reserves the right to adjust the event rules at any time to accommodate unusual circumstances
Basic Rules for the Event:
- Home/Visitor is determined by Coin toss
- This is a bat the roster, unlimited substitution on defense event
- Pinch Runner Allowed for the Pitcher & Catcher with 2 out (last available)
- All games are No New Inning after 1:20 - Medal games are no new inning after 1:30
- If the home team is ahead at 1:20 then the game is considered over. (1:30 for medal games)
- A tie is a suitable outcome for all games Friday and Saturday
- Wins are worth 2 points, Tie is worth 1 point in standings
- Call-Ups Allowed, must clear player with PWSA coordinator & UTM Fastpitch
- If a player is late, they can be added to the bottom of the line-up AT ANY TIME
- If a player becomes injured/sick, and then feels better, they can rejoin in their original spot in the batting order without penalty
- Live Streaming of games, must be cleared by the umpires and both teams prior to the start of the game
- In the event of weather issues a complete game is considered to be such after 3 full innings, or 2.5 innings if the home team is ahead
- All teams should be expected to be ready to play 15 minutes before their scheduled time slot
Mercy Rules:
- The first three innings of the game there is a 5-run cap
- All remaining innings there is a 7-run cap
- There is NO TRUE open inning
- Game Mercy rules are 15 after 3 innings, 10 runs after 5 innings
Tie Breaker for Overall Standings
We first break the tie (2 or more teams, and then reapply the tiebreaker rules). Given all 21 teams will be pooled together to determine placement, tie-breakers will take time to complete Saturday.
Please allow event organizers time to publish the brackets for games Sunday.
- Head to Head Result
- Run Differential Capped at +/- 7 per game
- Least runs against during four pool games
- Coin Toss
In the event of rain/weather issues, then we will use points % to determine position in the standings.
Sunday Games:
- All rules remain the same, however games can't end in a tie
- If the game is tied, an extra inning will be played (maximum of 5 runs)
- Teams start with runners on 2nd and 3rd base, and 1 out in the inning
Ejections:
- Should a player, coach, or parent receive a game ejection by the umpire or UIC they will automatically be suspended for 1 additional games regardless of when it happens.
- A second objection, will result in coach being banned from future 2026 UTM events
- Should a fan be thrown out of a game, that fan is banned for the balance of the weekend (no exceptions)
UTM reserves the right to modify rules due to weather and unusual circumstances such as field conditions, lighting, decisions made by the Township of Wilmot or Blandford-Blenheim
