Welcome to Waterloo Region and to the 2026 Edition of UTM Kick the Dust

UTM Fastpitch welcomes you to the event weekend, hosted by the UTM Bandits U19. Thank you for choosing to spend your tournament dollars on one of our events. 

We look forward to a great series of games Friday to Sunday.

 

Event Schedule: SCHEDULE

Scores for the weekend will be on the UTM Tournament App, and also posted to Event Connect

  • U17 event, runs through to a championship medal game between the semi-final winners
  • U19 event, Sunday teams will play a match vs a similar seed to win back part of your entry fee

 

Main Diamond Location: Cambridge Ice Park, Franklin Blvd, Cambridge ON

  • Free Parking at the front of the complex, athletes, coaches and fans need to walk through the ice complex to get to the diamonds
  • Outside food is NOT PERMITTED inside the complex (due to the onsite restaurant). Teams can eat in the parking lot no issues.
  • This venue is licensed all drinks must remain in the patio area, please act responsibly
  • PETS are NOT PERMITTED inside the complex (service animals excluded)

 

UTM Fastpitch would like to thank Todd Bannister for working above and beyond to staff this event with game officials. In advance we thank all teams for their flexibility in helping us manage the event schedule.

We would also like to thank those that have worked behind the scene to help prepare and plan for event weekend.

 

UTM Fastpitch reserves the right to adjust the event rules at any time to accommodate unusual circumstances

Basic Rules for the Event:

  • Home/Visitor is determined by Coin toss
  • Coach can decide to bat roster, or play 9 with DP/Flex -- however they can't interchange parts of the both options
  • Pinch Runner Allowed for the Pitcher & Catcher with 2 out (last available)
  • All games are No New Inning after 1:20
  • If the home team is ahead at 1:20 then the game is considered over.
  • A tie is a suitable outcome for all games Friday and Saturday
  • Wins are worth 2 points, Tie is worth 1 point in standings
  • Call-Ups Allowed, must clear player with PWSA coordinator & UTM Fastpitch
  • If a player is late, they can be added to the bottom of the line-up AT ANY TIME
  • In the event of weather issues a complete game is considered to be such after 3 full innings, or 2.5 innings if the home team is ahead
  • All teams should be expected to be ready to play 15 minutes before their scheduled time slot

Mercy Rules:

  • No run cap per inning
  • Mercy is 15 runs after 3 innings, 10 after 5 innings

Standing TieBreakers

  • Head to Head Result
  • Least Runs Against
  • Run Differential No Cap
  • Record against common opponents
  • Coin Toss

Sunday Games & U17 Saturday Playoff Games:

  • All rules remain the same, however games can't end in a tie 
  • If the game is tied, an extra inning will be played (run per inning cap still applies)
  • Teams start with runner on 2nd and 1 out in the inning

Event Ejections:

  • Should a player, coach, or parent receive a game ejection by the umpire or UIC they will automatically be suspended for 1 additional games regardless of when it happens.
  • A second objection, will result in coach being banned from future 2026 UTM events
  • Should a fan be thrown out of a game, that fan is banned for the balance of the weekend (no exceptions)

UTM thanks the softball community for their support the last 10 seasons. We are currently undecided if UTM events will continue into 2027, and should that be the case we are so thankful for a great run together!
