NOVEMBER 9, 2020 --- If you're going out for a run you need to properly warm up your muscles. A good way to do so is to do the dynamic warm-up you would normally do with your team at practice! If it's cold outside it's especially important to make sure you're warm, so you may need to spend a little bit longer warming up your body! The most important muscles to get warm for a run are your quadriceps, which are the muscles in the front of your legs, and your hamstrings with are the muscles in the back of your legs! Some good ways to warm these up are butt kickers, high knees, squats, lunges, side lunges, and Frankenstein kicks! It's also important to warm-up your arms and shoulders, so doing arm circles are a good idea as well!

If you're going out for a walk, you still need to warm up your muscles, but not quite as much as if you were going for a run! Doing a couple of the exercises mentioned above for your legs and arms should be enough, but you should make sure your muscles are still warm. Warming yourself up before your runs/walks is going to be super important to reduce your risk of injury, but you need to make sure you stretch afterwards too!

Until next time, stay healthy!
