U19 Tier 1
No change to our U19 rankings this week, the teams are now mostly on exam breaks. We won’t see the large lot of them together again until the National Qualifier. At the National Qualifier, Waterloo (1), Windsor (3) and Guelph (5) all are in one group – along with three currently unranked teams in MSW, Aurora and Port Perry. The Angels will have a new arm back however at the Qualifier – and likely become a much better team as a result. The other National Qualifer pool has Oakville (2), Brampton – Murray (4), and Toronto (6) – joining these three are UTM and Brampton – Alexander. We think this second group is better 1 to 5, whereas the 2nd group one would have to assume that those first three seeds should all easily advance to the playoff round.
U19 Tier 2
Slight adjustments this week, in the middle/bottom portion of the top-10. The qualifier draws have Lasalle (1), Kitchener (3), London (7) as the three highest seeds from our rankings, whereas the second qualifier site has Waterloo (2), Springfield (4), Tavistock (5), Yankees (6) – we mentioned on social media as well that the format will have one of those four place in “B” grands. Meanwhile either Peterborough or Napanee will place in “A”. All in all though the two sites have an even distribution of the top-10 in our rankings.
U16 Tier 1
No change to the U16 rankings this week. Much like the Tier 1 side many teams are now in the US portion of their summer schedule. Several teams had good weekends stateside this week which is good to see. Quick look at the teams heading to the National Qualifier and their pool distribution… NQ White pool – Vaughan (1), Brantford (6), Tavistock (7), Halton (9) / NQ Orange Pool – Waterloo (4), Miss North 02 (5), Miss SW 02 (8), Miss North 03 (10) / NQ Brown – UTM (2), Windsor (3)…
U16 Tier 2
Oakville remains in the 1st spot, no real changes again just some minor adjustments in the middle/bottom portion of the top-10. London Lightning won the John Cross Tourney this past weekend, the UTM Rock the Park will be a great lead in for these teams as many of the top 6 teams will be at that event July 6th weekend in Drumbo/Princeton ON. Schedules were released this week.
Yes, Kitchener beat Brampton this past week at the Big Show tournament. However we will keep Brampton in the #1 spot, our reasoning is the overall weekend in which Brampton really dominated in many of the games, it was also a timed game that didn’t go the full 7-innings due to format. Let’s however not take anything away from the Klassics they got beat in game 1, and then we saw the players have a player only team meeting at the park --- and they responded by winning their next 5 games against teams now all in the top-8. We expect these teams and a handful of others to have some epic battles this summer. Reviewing the National Qualifier Pools – NQ Blue – Brampton (1), Vaughan (4), Oakville (5) / NQ Red – Kitchener (2), Whitby (8) Windsor Red (10) / NQ Yellow – Toronto (3), Port Perry (6), Waterloo (9) – that’s a pretty fair distribution. Watch out for Chatham in the Yellow pool!
